ALPHA ZETA CHAPTER
This organization is open to undergraduate, and graduate students at DeVry/Keller University in Computer Science, Information Systems Technology, and Telecommunications Management. The objective of this organization is to stimulate and develop student interest in the community and technical industries, strive to increase the number of students studying technical degrees, and to endeavor in the advancement of students in the professional industry.
EDP Official Alpha Zeta Chapter Insignia:
- The mortarboard signifying academic excellence.
- The magnetic tape reels and punched cards signifying the society's focus on computer science and data processing.
- A binary number whose 0s and 1s used in networked computing signify the decimal number 1973, the year the society was founded.
- The lightening bolts signify the ongoing promotion of excellence in the field of computer science and data communications.
Epsilon Delta Pi (EDP) was founded at East Texas University in 1973 for the recognition of outstanding students in the growing field of Computer Sciences. In 1977, EDP received national recognition for the Data Processing Management Association (DPMA).
Purpose:
Epsilon Delta Pi (EDP) was founded because of lack of recognition to students that should received honors in the field of Computer Science and Networked Computing. EDP is a valuable resource through which students learn leadership, teamwork, responsibility, integrity, communication and organizational skills, self-and professional-development, and other proficiencies that are extremely valuable to corporate professionals.
